When Crane House opened in 1987, its resources were immediately in demand. Today students of all ages, business people, and the general public attend educational programs, taste Chinese dishes, use the library, and ask questions. To play a part in the world of tomorrow, Lang suggests that young people learn a language, join an international organization, and travel. She hopes people will read books about the Chinese peopletheir fairy tales, history, and cultural traditions. Lang firmly believes that promoting multicultural understanding and respect is an endeavor which contributes to world peace. For this reason, among her many awards she has received, the one she values most is the 1997 Peace Award from Louisvilles Trinity High School. It is appropriate that the crane is an ancient symbol for longevity. Under the leadership of Helen Lew Lang, Crane House is serving the community on a firm foundation.
